Hey Tarsem. You see I’m only referring to you as Tarsem. I don’t care about the rest of the name you now use. You’ll always be just Tarsem to me. Like Madonna, Prince, or K-fed.
I really enjoyed ‘The Cell.’ I thought it was refreshing and imaginative. I was really excited when I first heard about ‘The Fall.’ When it was finally released I saw it in theaters as soon as I could. It was artistically striking in a dozen ways. It was grand fairy tale that was part Gilliam, part Gondry, and all you.
Then ‘Immortals’ happened. We didn’t need that movie. It was your style applied to action, but just psychics bending action, not imagination. There was no magic to it. I couldn’t even watch it. It hurt.
I don’t even want to mention ‘Mirror Mirror.’ Moving on.
I mean WHY TARSEM? What made you do ‘Mirror Mirror’? Could you not get anything made? Did you think the best course of action was to helm a competing Snow White film? A Snow White film, which was just another silly family film, when the other was a teen action flick starring Bella and Thor! BELLA AND THOR!
Calming down.
So now there’s news about your planned Marco Polo flick. Make it with reason Tarsem. Bend it into a fairy tale. Make us believe in a history that is impossible. Make us sit with wide eyes.
