Bridesmaids & How Escalation Began w/ Bachelorette

Bachelorette is a new “girls-only” comedy starring Kirsten Dunst (who made it and lost it), Isla Fisher (who almost made it and faded away), Lizzy Caplan (never quite made it), and Rebel Wilson (jury’s out).  It basically looks like the type of film we would make up in either our Fake Movie Friday or during one of our improv shows.  It was made purely to capitalize on the Bridesmaids money that proved that women could be funny or whatever.  What is weird however is that it takes about 12-15 months to rip off an idea and get it into theaters in time.  I cant imagine anyone will care about this movie, but then again it’s not trying to get me to see it.

Oz the Great and Digital

This trailer is incredibly disappointing. I thought Sam Raimi directing a ‘Wizard of Oz’ prequel would be awesome, but it just looks like Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland 2.

Just Tell Me The Ending And We’ll Be Done Here

‘The Secret’ is the film’s terrible French title. ‘The Tall Man’ is it’s equally horrible American title.

This is the type of movie I think I understand the least.

Man With The Iron Trailer

We talked earlier this week about this film, now we are excited to share a trailer. I think Russell Crowe will steal the show in this one. Something I didn’t know was WWE’s Batista as some sort of golden Colossus, which is brilliant.

David O’Russell & Bradley Cooper Make OSCARBAIT?

The trailer for the Bradley Cooper/Jennifer Lawrence vehicle Silver Linings Playbook just made its way on the web.  It also stars Robert DeNiro, John Ortiz, and the oft-reclusive Chris Tucker in a comedy about two screwed up people who meet and fall in love.  From the trailer I get the sense that this would like to be Oscarbait, but will settle for Golden Globesbait, and who wants that? It’s adapted from a book that I haven’t read.

One interesting thing is that it appears Lawrence is playing mid to late 20’s in this film when she’s actually like 21, and still capable of aging down to play high schoolers.  She’s in that elusive sweetspot for female actresses where you are up for damn near any role Hollywood throws out between 16 and 32.  She’ll be in everything soon, until she ages like Pfeiffer and they take her out to the glue factory.

Total Recall Trailer Three

Well, actually it’s trailer 2 but check out 0:24 and you’ll see why I’m officially behind this remake.

At first I was against remaking this film. They premiered footage at last years New York Comic Con and I forgot about my allegiance to Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now this trailer makes it seem even better.

I can’t wait to be disappointed by this film.

Terrible Title, Pretty Trailer

This trailer popped online yesterday. I thought about posting it but decided not to. The “from the creators of” credits do absolutely nothing for me. The stylized trailer makes the movie look gorgeous but the story doesn’t seem to be anything new. Thats coming from someone who loved ‘Avatar’ so much he saw it 4 times in the theater. It seems to have the potential to absolutely disappoint me if I start to get excited about it. Maybe a second trailer would help. What do you think?

Kevin James & the Inspirational Sports Drama?

When I first heard that Kevin James was going to be in a movie playing a teacher who decides to start MMA fighting to make money for his failing school, I thought, “this is going to be a typical happy madison shitbird.” Then I saw the trailer for his film Here Comes The Boom and thought “Ok, it’s not happy madison, but its still shit.”

It’s like someone knew that while Warrior bombed, it was a good enough film, so why not toss in some comedy, some fat guy falling, and watch the money pile up.  I don’t think this will be good at all, but I think it will certainly do well.  The tone of this trailer is all over the place, but I doubt that’ll matter.

I still hate MMA though.

The Voice

Ferrell vs. Galifianakis is the big selling point of the upcoming film ‘The Campaign.’ There is unlimited potential for this film. Not all of it good. It could be this incredible comedy. It could be a huge box office smash. It could mysteriously bomb. I could love it. I could want to dig my eyes out as everyone on the subway quotes it.

The first few posters were selling it for me. What worried me the most were their voices. The two of them were not going to speak normally, especially Galifianakis. His voices from previous work really wouldn’t fit the Carolinian political candidate. Now we have a trailer-

Alex Cross & Dressing Up Like Daddy!

The trailer for Alex Cross (reboot of the Along Came a Spider and Kiss The Girls films) is here.  In the books by James Patterson, Alex Cross is a bad ass cool detective.  Idris Elba LOST this role to Tyler Perry.  Tyler Perry.  TYLER PERRY!  The funniest part of the this trailer to me isn’t all the dialogue where it sounds like Tyler Perry is trying to sound like his father, but instead when they show the names for the actors in the film and Tyler Perry’s flashes on the screen, and you realize it isn’t for a horrible comedy, but for an action thriller.   Dude doesn’t even have muscles!  Matthew Fox took over in the muscle department for this film it appears.

This movie could have been awesome if they replaced Madea with Stringer Bell/Luther
