Trailer Round Up – The Lone Ranger

I don’t know about this movie. With the exception of William Fichtner and Tom Wilkinson I didn’t find much to get excited about. I looks like the perfect movie to watch on HBO on a lazy Sunday afternoon, which is probably not what they were going for.

Trailer Round Up – Star Trek Into Darkness

The crew of the Starship Enterprise returns home after an act of terrorism within its own organization destroys most of Starfleet and what it represents, leaving Earth in a state of crisis. I’m excited to see this  trailer and to know that it will son be available on 123 Movieshub. Recently I’ve watched so much Star Trek recently (I watched all The Next Generation series and movies and am in the process of watching the Original Series). The trailer does make it seem too dark and serious. Or maybe it is just my irrational dislike for Damon Lindelof. Here is hoping I’m wrong and the movie is as great as the first one.

Trailer Round Up – Man of Steel

Holy shit this is good. There is a lot of the same imagery that was in the previous trailers, but you get to see more of young Clark and Jonathan Kent, which I have to admit got me a little chocked up. The flashes of action at the end looked incredible. People like to say that the problem with DC characters is that they are basically gods, whereas Marvel characters are much more human and relatable. It looks like Man of Steel is embracing the godlike aspect of Superman and turning it into a positive. DC has finally got there shit together.

Trailer Round Up – Hunger Games: Catching Fire

I liked this trailer a lot. They managed to keep a lot of the mystery, but still give you an idea of where the story is going. It looks like Francis Lawrence isn’t using as much shaky-cam as there was in the first movie, which is great. I have high hopes for this one.

Fake Movie Friday: Empty Glasses

I totally forgot to write one earlier today. I had no luck coming up with a title on my own so I asked Lisa who might have been drinking at the time and gave me:

Empty Glasses

Ben and Eric are two hot shot brokers who have lasted through the bubble bursting by rejecting everyone else, living for themselves and leaving behind a trail of bodies… figuratively speaking. They both drive expensive cars and are out all night partying still, somehow, and making it into work closing deals and what not. There are scenes of them out late all night always with different women, at clubs, bars, shindigs, parties with lots of celebrities at them, yachts, etc.

Filth Teaser Trailer NSFW

This wasn’t on my radar at all, but it is now. James McAvoy as a Bad Lieutenant type cop, sign me up. From browsing the comments from different places, apparently the book it is based on features a talking tape worm. Not sure if this movie will get that crazy, but it looks interesting regardless. Oh, and did I mention this trailer is not safe for work?

James Wan in talks to direct Final Furious

Image-5-James-Wan

There had previously been talk that either Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer), or Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) would helm the seventh Fast and Furious movie (which I will only be referring to as Final Furious), but it looks like James Wan is now the front runner. I wasn’t interested in any of the previous directors, so I would be more than ok with James Wan. Wan has a great track record with horror and his revenge movie Death Sentence is well regarded, so I’d be interested to see what he could do with an action movie. Let’s not forget that Justin Lin wasn’t an action guy before he got into the Fast and Furious business either. James Wan is definitely the most interesting choice so far.

Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium trailer

I wasn’t really sure what to expect for Elysium. I was slightly worried when I heard the synopsis that it would thematically be a repeat of District 9 (that is exploring class systems). Well I shouldn’t have worried, it looks awesome. The imagery and action both look incredible. As potentially great as Blomkamp’s Halo movie could have been, I’m more than happy to have him continue to make original science fiction films.
