Dawn of the Dead

Obviously the only way to follow Night of the Living Dead is with Dawn of the Dead. This is not only my favorite zombie movie it is my favorite horror movie. One of the few sequels that are better than the first, Dawn of the Dead expands on the universe by creating a more apocalyptic and epic tone. Dawn’s success led to countless ripoffs/homages from ultra violent European Zombie movies (sqee!) to video games like Dead Rising. Don’t just listen to me though, check it out for yourself below:

Night of the Living Dead

If you know me then you know that I have an obsession with zombies. I’m going to start sharing some zombie movie trailers and there is no better place to begin than with Night of the Living Dead. George Romero created the modern concept of the zombie. Granted, the Haitian Zombie predates Night of the Living Dead and was first mentioned in 1929 with William Seabrook’s The Magic Island (I own a copy), but the concept of reanimated corpses eating the flesh of the living is all Romero. Night of the Living Dead is quite simply a masterpiece, and this trailer is a lot of fun.

Updated 9-12-12:
Oh man, how did I forget that Night of the Living Dead is actually in the public domain, so of course the entire movie would be on youtube:

I Accidentally Smoked Cracked

I have been interested in this film for a while. I personally love Mary Elizabeth Winstead (‘Sky High’ for life). Also Aaron Paul is the best.

I really hope this movie is better than the trailer.

We Don’t Just Share Comic Book Movie News!

Guess what ‘Sex and the City’ fans?! Cynthia Nixon is going to play Emily Dickinson in a biopic entitled ‘A Quiet Passion.’ That’s all I’ve got on the subject. I guess we only care about Comic Book news.

The 90s Are Officially Back

Thank you ‘Expendables’ and California term restrictions! The 90s are back. Not only do Stallone and Schwartzenegger both have upcoming films, but this gem of a poster popped up online today.

You’re welcome America.

Viggo Mortensen Strange Phd

Super thin rumors to share with you today. Viggo Mortensen may be joining the Marvel movie universe as Doctor Strange.

I really hope they start fleshing out the universe in phase two. There is no reason why characters can’t pop up in small roles. The Falcon will be in Captain America. They should really introduce Hank Pym somewhere, mostly as a scientist and less as Ant-Man (They are doing Scott Lang Ant-Man for the film).

Viggo can make the character work with it’s over the top magic-ness. This will be a huge test for Marvel to show their werider characters can work on film.

Quartet Means Four!

It’s amazing how with a good script and talented actors a film about a string quartet can look more interesting than 90% of films released this year.

I’m interested and hope for MANY music puns.

Fake Movie Friday: Broken Glass

Wow today was busy at work, but here I am on the train home and it’s time for another Fake Movie Friday! This weeks title was suggested to me by Lisa last night at the Manhattan College Alumni Happy Two Hours. I decided this needs to be a weird experimental sort of film, mostly scenes with very little connecting it all…or is there??

Broken Glass
